Frustrated by Allergies or Sinusitis?

Find Relief with the ENT Physicians at Your Sinus Doctor

Sinus infections slow down your life. They turn what could be enjoyable, beautiful days into stuffy, snotty blurs and disrupt your routine by requiring constant doctor visits, shots, medications, and more.

What’s important to determine is if your symptoms are the result of sinusitis. Sinus infections, also known as sinusitis, are often confused for a common cold. A cold, unlike sinusitis, is not caused by a bacterial infection. Sinus infections, which can be viral, fungal, or bacterial, should be treated immediately to prevent further damage to your health. You also need to determine the cause of the sinus infection. An Ear Nose and Throat doctor, also known as an ENT, is the specialist to make this determination.

Do you suffer from sinusitis? If so, you, like many of the millions of sufferers of sinusitis, also likely struggle from mild to severe airborne allergies.

Allergies and sinus infections are connected and are often mistaken for one another due to the similarities of symptoms.

However, they are two separate conditions that require the attention of a specialist.

What's the difference between Allergies and Sinusitis?

Discover if you’re suffering from sinusitis or an allergy-related condition like allergic rhinitis by learning about and observing your symptoms.

Sinusitis

Sinusitis is commonly a viral infection that resolves in 7-10 days. When symptoms last for an extended time (chronic sinusitis) or are frequent (recurrent sinusitis), they become a more serious issue.

Sinus infections result in the inflammation of your sinuses, causing them to swell and block your airways. Swelling prevents your sinuses from draining, resulting in a buildup of mucus and germs.

Symptoms of a sinus infection, known as sinusitis, include:

  • Sinus Pressure
  • Sore Throat
  • Headaches
  • Coughing
  • Nasal Discharge

Allergic Rhinitis

If you suffer from allergies, then you are well aware of the symptoms. These include congestion, stuffy and runny nose, and sinus pressure. Allergic rhinitis, unlike sinusitis, is not caused by a viral infection, it is due to an allergic reaction and commonly results in post-nasal drip, sneezing, and other cold-like symptoms.

Symptoms of allergic rhinitis not common with sinusitis include: Itchiness & Watery Eyes.

Another difference is yellow or green discharge from your nose, which is common in sinusitis but not in allergic rhinitis.

Professional Suffering From Sinus Issues

If the symptoms above are common issues for you, you may be suffering from both allergic rhinitis and sinusitis.

Dealing with both conditions complicates treatment and could be why you’re still dealing with symptoms after trying multiple forms of treatment.

“No more sinus headaches, infections, stuffed nose or dizziness.”

Dr. Martini performed my sinus surgery, and I am very happy with the results. I feel so much better. Dr. Martini is a wonderful, very knowledgeable doctor.

“Wonderful Doctor and Results”

I have been using Dr Silveria for years, he has always been accurate, helpful and did what he said he was going to do, I will continue using him. Have had no problems with his work or his staff.

“Breathing great, sleeping great, and my wife really appreciates how much less cranky I am.”

I feel like a new person and in a much better mood. Thank you Dr. Martini.

"Greatly impressed with the staff and Doctor."

They were all very courteous and came across as very caring. The doctor did not make me feel rushed and answered questions I had and my husband had about the procedure. Dr. Silveira was very warm and took time to explain things so I could understand. The treatment will be taking 4-6 months so will see if this continues! The office is very comfortable. They even have coffee and cookies available!! Never been in a doctors office that offered that for sure!

“I’ve suffered for years with nasal congestion. I’ve tried many different medications, with no success.”

After my surgery and treatment here, I’m breathing great and have no more trouble with sinus pressure or headaches!

“I recommend Ear, Nose, & Throat Clinic to any one who has sleep apnea.”

Dr. Jeffrey L. Silveira, MD office and staff are amazing!  I have had many T.R.F.A. and I breathe better to the point where I no longer require a machine. Soon I will be receiving Sinuplasty and I know Dr. Silveira will take good care of me and answer questions I may have. Just a side note, you are treated like family, and if you wish to have prayers said before surgery, he will also do that too! Thank you so much E.N.T!

“My initial consultation went great.”

Everything was explained clearly to me. All of my questions were answered and my options in future treatments were explained to me. I felt like I was listened to and that the staff genuinely cared about me. I’m looking forward to coming back.

“Well-worth the 2 hour drive from Albany.”

Friendly, professional, very knowledgeable ENT.

"I was miserable before the procedure and I now have complete relief."

I feel like a completely different person. - R.A.

Had Enough of Allergy and Sinus Symptoms?

Your Treatment Options Are:

Patients come to Your Sinus Doctor from Douglas, Tifton, Albany, Valdosta, Waycross, and beyond. They are seeking an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor (ENT) who will treat their allergic rhinitis and sinusitis so they can stop fighting symptoms and experience long-term relief.

Treatments for allergic rhinitis vary from sinusitis medication and procedures because different issues cause them.

Allergic rhinitis treatments include:

  • Allergy Medication
  • Allergy Shots
  • Sublingual Therapy

There are many sinusitis treatments, from short-term medications to surgical procedures, that are intended to fix nasal blockages permanently. Based on your condition, an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialist, also known as an otolaryngologist, can guide you through treatment options.

Common treatments include:

  • Sinus Medication
  • Endoscopic Sinus Surgery

Since a blockage causes sinusitis in your sinus pathways, medication is not a long-term solution. You are likely to continue to experience sinus infections, leaving you searching for a long-term fix for the complications sinusitis throws into your life.

A simple office procedure can provide long-term symptom relief:

Balloon Sinuplasty

If you suffer from chronic sinusitis, you have a plumbing problem in your nose that medication is not going to cure. You probably do not want major sinus surgery either. We understand. At Your Sinus Doctor / Ear Nose and Throat Clinic, we recommend safe, long-term chronic and recurrent sinusitis treatments.

Balloon Sinus Dilation, often called Balloon Sinuplasty, is a safe and simple office procedure that permanently enlarges sinus openings WITHOUT removing bone or tissue. Balloon Sinuplasty is performed by our trained and experienced ENT physicians, Dr. Jeffrey Silveira and Dr. David Martini. A tiny sinus balloon is placed where your sinuses are blocked, it is inflated, deflated and removed, permanently remodeling the previously blocked sinuses.

Before we can adequately treat your sinusitis, we need to understand the current state of your body. A detailed exam is the first step that allows us to understand the severity of your sinusitis symptoms and your expectations of treatment.

During your initial visit, we may also use our office CT scanner and sinus endoscopy to exam your sinuses to make a proper diagnosis.

Sinusitis Treatment Plan

As a patient of Your Sinus Doctor / Ear Nose and Throat Clinic, you will be treated with care as we will consider all aspects of your health and condition before selecting the treatment that best eliminates the negative effects of your sinusitis.

When medications and sinus infection remedies fail to meet your long-term expectations, we recommend sinusitis treatment plans that may include office procedures or surgeries performed in an operating room.

Track Sinus Treatment Results

Sinus treatment plans are ineffective without tracking the treatment results. Follow up office visits is not our way of making more money. It is essential to know if the treatment plan is meeting your expectations or if we need to revise the treatment plan.
